Uruguay defeat Paraguay to win the Copa America for a record 15th time.

Uruguay beat Paraguay 3-0 on Sunday to win the Copa America for a record 15th time.

Liverpool’s Luis Suarez, voted player of the tournament, opened the scoring after 12 minutes, followed by two more from striking partner Diego Forlan.

The victory marks Uruguay’s first Copa America title since 1995, giving them one more title than Argentina and seven more than recent tournament dominators Brazil.

Atletico Madrid striker Diego Forlan becomes the third generation of his family to win the Copa America, following in his grandfather’s and father’s footsteps over a 95-year span of the tournament.
