Eduardo Vargas's 79th-minute header opened the scoring for the La Liga giants as they took a big step towards booking their place in the last 16 of the tournament.

Sofiane Feghouli added a second in stoppage time when his shot deflected into the net.

The Spanish side had threatened throughout and deservedly took the lead when Vargas converted Dani Parejo's ball with a power header.

The striker was at it against minutes later, but this time he saw his headed effort bounce off the foot of the post, before Feghouli gave his side some breathing space ahead of the second leg late on.
