Valencia have revealed that they will "investigate" the missile-throwing incident that occurred in the latter stages of their 3-2 defeat to Barcelona on Saturday afternoon.
Lionel Messi's 94th-minute penalty sparked ugly scenes inside the Mestalla, with a bottle thrown towards the Barcelona players when the away side were celebrating their third goal of the match.
The bottle appeared to strike Neymar, which led to Messi addressing the supporters, and Valencia have 'condemned' the incident as they prepare to launch an investigation into what occurred during the La Liga contest.
"Valencia condemns the throwing of a bottle by a fan at a Barcelona player. Violent behaviour is not tolerated and the club will investigate this incident and continue with preventative work in order to avoid this kind of action," read a statement on Valencia's Twitter account.
Valencia led 2-1 early in the second period at the Mestalla, before Suarez equalised and Messi struck the winner as Los Che lost their sixth league game of the season.
