Report: Cani told he can leave Villarreal

A report claims that Spanish midfielder Cani is free to leave Villarreal in the January transfer window.

Villarreal midfielder Cani has reportedly been made available for transfer in the January window.

The 33-year-old has been with the Yellow Submarine since 2006, making close to 300 league appearances for the club.

However, the Spaniard has struggled with injuries and a loss of form this season, which has harmed his appearances in the first team.

According to AS, Villarreal boss Marcelino has informed the midfielder that he is free to leave next month, with a number of clubs said to be interested.

Cani is currently one of the club's highest earners.
