Marcelino delighted with Atletico Madrid scalp

Villarreal boss Marcelino reveals his delight following Sunday's 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid.

Villarreal boss Marcelino has revealed his delight after his side recorded a 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon on Sunday.

Atletico entered the match boasting an unbeaten league record at home in 2014, but Luciano Vietto's late strike secured all the points for the Yellow Submarine.

"I'm very pleased because we've just beaten one of the best teams in Europe," Marcelino told reporters.

"My players earned a well-deserved victory over a great side. We've played well in other matches without winning.

"We started well in the second half and looked to match our opponents. Vietto popped up with the goal which secured us a tremendously-important victory."

Villarreal have now won their last four games in La Liga.
