West Bromwich Albion defender Gareth McAuley remains confident that Baggies boss Roy Hodgson will extend his stay at the Hawthorns.

West Bromwich Albion defender Gareth McAuley has insisted that the club's players are desperate for Baggies boss Roy Hodgson to remain at the Hawthorns.

Hodgson's contract is due to expire at the end of the season, but McAuley is quietly confident that he will extend his stay.

"I'm sure the situation will be sorted out in the summer when the gaffer sits down with the powers-that-be at the club and hopefully they will thrash something out," McAuley told the Express and Star.

"We all hope that the gaffer stays because he has improved us as a group and everyone enjoys working with him."

West Brom are currently 14th in the Premier League table.
