West Brom are looking to bring Craig Gardner back to the West Midlands with a loan switch to the Hawthorns in January.

West Bromwich Albion are favourites to sign unsettled Sunderland midfielder Craig Gardner, according to The Mirror.

Manager Roy Hodgson reportedly wants to bring the 25-year-old to the Hawthorns on an initial loan deal, with a view to a permanent switch in the summer.

Gardner is said to be unhappy at the Stadium of Light and is seeking a move back to the Midlands due to family reasons.

Premier League rivals Aston Villa and Wolves are also thought to be interested but the Baggies appear to be in pole position.

The former Birmingham midfielder has made ten appearances for the Wearside outfit this season.
