West Ham United chairman "hopeful" Winston Reid will stay

West Ham United co-chairman David Gold believes that Winston Reid will sign a new deal at the club, despite rumours that he could leave in the summer.

West Ham United co-chairman David Gold is "hopeful" that Winston Reid will sign a new contract at Upton Park.

The defender has been linked with North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur ahead of the summer transfer window.

Despite coming to the end of his contract when the season comes to a close, Gold remains confident that the New Zealand international will stay put.

In response to a Twitter follower, Gold wrote: "I am hopeful that Winston will sign for us."

Yesterday, Hammers manager Sam Allardyce revealed that Reid is yet to make a decision regarding his future.
