Roberto Martinez thinks that West Brom midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu should have been sent off after shoving James McArthur in a 1-1 draw at the DW Stadium.

Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez has hit out against referee Michael Oliver for not sending off West Bromwich Albion's Youssouf Mulumbu.

The Latics boss believes that the Baggies midfielder should have been sent his marching orders after reacting to a challenge by shoving Wigan's James McArthur during the 1-1 draw at the DW Stadium.

"There was nothing wrong with McArthur's challenge," said Martinez. "He tries to win the ball. But I've seen Mulumbu's reaction given as a red card. It's not a sportsman's behaviour. Obviously you expect the ref to be strong and punish Mulumbu.

"Boyce has tried to get in between Mulumbu and McArthur, and Thomas just grabs him. I thought the whole thing was handled by the ref a bit light-handedly. But we were so dominant we didn't need that to go our way to win."

Wigan remain in the bottom three of the Premier League.
