Preview: Woking vs. King's Lynn Town - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Monday's National League clash between Woking and King's Lynn Town, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Seeking to snap their five-game winless run, King's Lynn Town take a trip to the Kingfield Stadium to square off against Woking in round 44 of the National League on Sunday.

The Cardinals, meanwhile, head into the game on a two-match winning streak and will be looking to keep the juggernaut rolling and close out the season on a high note.

Match preview

Woking picked up successive league victories for just the third time this season when they saw off Wrexham 2-1 on home turf last Saturday.

After an own goal from Tyreke Johnson put the visitors in front heading into half time, the Cardinals upped the ante after the break as Max Kretzschmar and Jamar Loza scored in the final 25 minutes to turn the tie on its head.

Prior to that, Woking ended their two-game losing streak with a comfortable 4-1 victory at Dover Athletic on April 18, when Nicke Kabamba scored a brace to inspire his side to all three points.

Darren Sarll's men, who avoided relegation by the skin of their teeth last season, have now won 16, drawn four and lost 21 of their 41 games so far to collect 52 points and sit 15th in the National League standings.

Elsewhere, King's Lynn Town failed to find their feet last time out when they bottled the lead twice before settling for a 3-3 draw with Eastleigh at the Walks Stadium.

With the game headed for a draw, Gold Omotayo scored what seemed to be the winner in the 95th minute but Michael Kelly was calm under pressure as he converted his spot kick to force a share of the spoils in the 10th minute of added time.

King's Lynn Town have now failed to win any of their last five games, claiming three draws and losing twice since grinding out a 1-0 victory over Bromley on April 5.

Tommy Widdrington's men, whose relegation has already been confirmed, will now look to close out the season with their heads held high after picking up just 31 points from their 42 games so far.

However, the Linnets head into Monday's game winless in 11 of their 12 games on the road since the turn of the year, with a 3-0 victory at Aldershot Town on March 19 being the only exception.

Team News

On the back of two impressive victories, Sarll could name an unchanged backline comprising David Longe-King, Moussa Diarra, Joe McNerney and Josh Casey shielding Craig Ross in goal.

Kretzschmar has been on song for the Cardinals, scoring four goals in his last seven outings and the 28-year-old should team up with Rohan Ince in a two-man pivot.

Further up the pitch, Inih Effiong, Jack Roles and Tyreke Johnson should handle business in the final third with Jamaican international Loza spearheading the attack.

Meanwhile, Omotayo came up trumps for King's Lynn Town once again, scoring twice in the victory over Eastleigh last time out and the Nigerian forward will certainly be one to keep an eye out for.

At the opposite end of the pitch, we expect to see Aaron Jones, Barrows, Josh Coulson and Tyler Denton in defence, having started each of the Linnets' last two outings.

Woking possible starting lineup:
Ross; Longe-King, Diarra, McNerney, Casey; Kretzschmar, Ince; Effiong, Roles, Johnson; Loza

King's Lynn Town possible starting lineup:
P Jones; A Jones, Barrows, Coulson, Denton; Hargreaves, Widdrington, McGavin, Clunan, Scott; Omotayo

We say: Woking 2-1 King's Lynn Town

Woking's recent resurgence was highlighted in their victory over Wrexham, when they fought back from behind to see off the Dragons. We are backing them to carry on the momentum from that performance and claim all three points against an out-of-sorts King's Lynn Town side.
