Wolverhampton Wanderers lead Barnsley 1-0 at the interval of their Championship encounter at Molineux.

It was Wolves who started the better and they took the lead after eight minutes when Stephen Ward finished from close range to score his first goal since January.

Barnsley were not without their chances and Marlon Harewood came close with a long-range effort on the 10-minute mark.

Both sides continued to create opportunities as the half developed, with Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and Ward coming close with efforts after 30 minutes.

Matt Jarvis continued to cause the away side problems late in the opening period, but Wolves could not turn their dominance into a second goal.
