Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Stale Solbakken insists that he will continue to decide which players sign for the Championship club.

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Stale Solbakken has insisted that he will remain in control of signing players going straight into the first team at Molineux.

Wolves have appointed Kevin Thelwell as their head of recruitment but while Solbakken acknowledges that Thelwell will play his part in the acquisition of players, he says that he will decide which established players arrive at the club.

Solbakken told the Birmingham Mail: "We will work together but I will have the final word, especially with players who are going to go straight into the team.

"It would be stupid to buy a player that you don't want. That's happened to me once or twice before and didn't end very well!

"It is a little bit different if you decide to buy a 20-year-old on a five or six-year deal. If we can afford that it is no problem, so it has to be about open discussions."

Solbakken has seen his side win their last two games to move up to 16th place in the Championship table.
