Wolverhampton Wanderers left-back Marcal reportedly agrees to join Brazilian side Botafogo as a free agent in the summer transfer window.

Marcal has reportedly agreed to join Botafogo from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer transfer window.

The 33-year-old penned a two-year deal with the Molineux side in the summer of 2020 and is seemingly set to leave as a free agent in a few months' time.

Marcal has competed with Rayan Ait-Nouri - a man 13 years his junior - for the left-back spot this term and has started 15 Premier League games for Bruno Lage's side.

According to Globo, Botafogo have reached an agreement with the Brazilian to return to his homeland in July, with the contracts set to be signed imminently.

Marcal left Brazil in 2010 after rising through the youth ranks at Gremio - representing Torreense, Nacional, Benfica, Gaziantepspor, Guingamp and Lyon before moving to Wolves in 2020.

The defender has made 30 appearances for Wolves in all competitions over the past two seasons but has not registered a goal or assist for Bruno Lage's side.
