Inter Milan midfielder Joao Mario is reportedly close to becoming the latest Portuguese player to join Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are on the brink of bringing in attacking midfielder Joao Mario from Inter Milan on a permanent deal, according to a report.

The Portugal international, who featured four times for his country at this summer's World Cup, has previous experience of the Premier League with West Ham United last season.

Mario scored twice and set up another in 13 top-flight outings for the Hammers during the second half of the 2017-18 campaign.

French journalist John Ferreira claims that a return to English football is now on the cards, with Wolves close to getting a deal over the line - possibly as soon as this weekend.

Wanderers, promoted to the Premier League last season, already have six Portuguese players on their books.
