Brian McDermott delighted with Leeds Rhinos comeback

Leeds Rhinos head coach Brian McDermott admits that there was not as much between his side and Hull FC as the 43-12 scoreline suggests.

Brian McDermott has praised his Leeds Rhinos players following last night's impressive comeback victory against Hull FC at the KC Stadium.

The Loiners found themselves 12-0 down at the break courtesy of a Leon Pryce double, although having crossed over seven times following the restart Leeds stormed to a 43-12 win.

Asked about his side's overall performance, McDermott is quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post as saying: "We weren't in the game at all in the first half and Hull are almost unplayable when they are like that, they play so quick.

"They were clearly dominant, but at the same time I didn't think we were miles and miles behind. That's what the players spoke of at half-time. We certainly needed to change one or two things or it would have been a tough old game.

"They were doing some good things and we needed to stop them and stop treating the ball like it's going to explode if you carry it for more than two seconds, but it was never an attitude change or such a dramatic change - in my opinion - as the scoreline suggests. The scoreline's great, but I didn't think we were that far off."

Leeds, who are now two points clear at the top of the Super League table having played a game more than those around them, return to action next week when they take on Warrington Wolves.
