Wigglesworth signs new Saracens deal

The 35-year-old England scrum-half has extended his current contract for another year.

England scrum-half Richard Wigglesworth has extended his Saracens contract for another year.

The 35-year-old became the all-time Gallagher Premiership appearance holder in September and will remain at Allianz Park until the summer of 2020.

"I've been lucky enough to have been part of the club for nine years and I don't think there's too many people who have wanted to leave, and there's a lot of people who have wanted to come," Wigglesworth told the official Saracens website.

"I'm just one of those many people who want to be associated with the club.

"I've enjoyed a lot of success here and I'm not interested in finishing at the moment."

Wigglesworth made his England debut in 2008 and joined Saracens from Sale Sharks two years later.

He has won three Premiership titles and two European Cups at the London club and made over 200 appearances.

Wigglesworth was recalled to the England squad this year and has now won 33 caps.

Saracens director of rugby Mark McCall said: "He's incredibly professional.

"He's understood the need to look after his body and there's nobody more diligent when it comes to that side of things.

"It says something about his determination and competitiveness that at his age he's been able to force his way back into England reckoning.

"It's an incredible achievement and it's great for us to keep him on for another year."
