Lucie Hradecka 'still in shock' following Ana Ivanovic triumph

Lucie Hradecka remains in disbelief having knocked fifth seed Ana Ivanovic out of the Australia Open on the opening day of the tournament.

Lucie Hradecka has admitted that she is still in shock after knocking fifth seed Ana Ivanovic out of the Australian Open at the first-round stage.

Despite the gulf of 137 places separating the pair in the rankings, the Czech pro battled back from a set behind to prevail 1-6 6-3 6-2 this morning.

Hradecka, who has now reached the second round of the Grand Slam event four years running, left the Road Laver Arena to a standing ovation having produced a stunning upset.

"I still don't believe that it's true," she told reporters. "Probably in a couple of hours I will know that I am in the second round in Australian Open and I beat Ana. It's two hours after the match and I'm still smiling."

Ivanovic was not the only seed to make an early exit on the opening day, as Belinda Bencic was edged out 6-2 6-1 by Julia Goerges, while former US Open champion Svetlana Kuznetsova also lost in straight sets to Caroline Garcia.
