Dominika Cibulkova battles to win over wasteful Alize Cornet

Dominika Cibulkova reaches the fourth round of the Australian Open with a 7-5 6-2 win over Alize Cornet.

2014 finalist Dominika Cibulkova has booked her place in the fourth round of the Australian Open with a 7-5 6-2 victory over Alize Cornet.

Despite coming through in straight sets against the 19th seed, it was far from easy for Cibulkova, who followed her opponent's example by struggling on serve in the opening set.

The vulnerability displayed by both players created a dramatic first set, but it was Cornet who was left disappointed as she wasted six set points before falling behind.

Cornet made the perfect response to the setback by claiming a break of serve early in the second set, and Cibulkova looked to be on course for another battle.

However, Cibulkova continued to attack her rival's serve to clinch three breaks of her own on the way to reaching the fourth round of the Grand Slam for the first time since losing to Li Na in last year's final.
