James Blake has revealed that hard courts are his favourite surface after advancing to the second round of the Cincinnati Masters.
The 31-year-old defeated Marcos Baghdatis 6-3 3-6 6-2, gaining some revenge having fallen to the Cypriot at Wimbledon earlier this year.
"Since I lost to Baghdatis at Wimbledon, I've been playing well," the American told reporters after the match.
"I feel really good about being back on hard courts. This summer swing is always my favourite part of the year, it's where I have my most success."
Blake has reached the final in the singles event at Cincinnati once before, losing to Roger Federer in 2007.
