Roger Federer: 'Rafael Nadal still favourite to win French Open'

Roger Federer believes that Rafael Nadal remains the man to beat at this year's French Open, despite the Spaniard's troubled start to the clay court season.

Roger Federer has insisted that Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic remain the two favourites to win next month's French Open.

Nadal, who failed to get beyond the third-round stage of the Barcelona Open last week, has shown a dip in form in recent times.

Despite this, Federer believes that the Spaniard is in a strong position to triumph on the Roland Garros clay for the ninth time in 10 years.

"Rafa for me is still the favourite at the French Open, alongside Djokovic, who has been playing so well," he is quoted as saying by Yahoo!

"Even though Rafa's form is not as good as in previous years, I still believe when the French Open rolls around he is going to be very difficult to beat."

Federer's only victory in the Grand Slam event came back in 2009.
