David Ferrer into round four of French Open

David Ferrer advances into the fourth round of the French Open with a 6-2 7-6(2) 6-3 victory over Andreas Seppi.

David Ferrer has advanced into the fourth round of the French Open following a comfortable 6-2 7-6(2) 6-3 victory over Andreas Seppi on Saturday.

Ferrer, who was a beaten finalist in 2013, secured back-to-back breaks in the opening set, with the Spaniard eventually moving ahead courtesy of a 6-2 score.

The second set, however, was much more of a contest. Both players exchanged breaks of serve in a pulsating period of the match, but Ferrer eventually moved two sets ahead after taking the tie-break 7-2.

Seppi responded impressively in the third and what proved to be final set as the Italian matched his Spanish opponent from the baseline.

However, a single break at 3-4 allowed Ferrer to take control of the set, with the fifth seed eventually serving it out after little under two-and-a-half hours of tennis in Paris.
