Richard Gasquet sees off Germain Gigounon 6-3 6-4 6-0 to book his place in the French Open second round.

Richard Gasquet has powered into the second round of the French Open thanks to a straight-sets victory over Germain Gigounon.

The 20th seed had to claw back two breaks at the start of the opening set, but he fought back in style before coming through 6-3.

World number 209 Gigounon offered similar resistance in the second, though Gasquet was able to break late on before dispatching of the Belgian 6-4 in clinical fashion.

With a comfortable two-set lead under his belt, Gasquet turned the screw in the third, coasting past Gigounon 6-3 6-4 6-0 to reach the next round.
