Gilles Simon advances at French Open by beating Martin Klizan in straight sets

Gilles Simon beats Martin Klizan 7-5 6-2 6-3 to make it through to the French Open third round.

Gilles Simon has booked his place in the third round of the French Open thanks to a comfortable straight-sets triumph over Martin Klizan.

The 12th seed was made to work in the first set before taking it 7-5, but from there he was able to keep the Slovakian at arm's length.

Simon came through the second 6-2 in routine style and was then able to close out the contest 7-5 6-2 6-3 with just over two hours played.

The Frenchman will now take on either Ernests Gulbis or Nicolas Mahut for a spot in the quarter-finals at Roland Garros.
