Former British number one Elena Baltacha targets a return to action after five months on the sidelines.

Former British number one Elena Baltacha has revealed that she has no plans to retire from tennis after five months on the sidelines.

The 29-year-old has been out of action since July following surgery on her right ankle, but she has admitted that she has the "hunger" to compete at the top level once more.

"I wanted to come back because I had banked so much experience and felt I needed to finish differently. I have got the hunger back and that is a big help. Otherwise you are stuffed," she told the Ipswich Star.

"I am coming back but I don't feel like I have a point to prove or have any pressure on me. I don't need to rush and I can develop tennis-wise

Baltacha was knocked out of the Olympics last summer by Ana Ivanovic.
