World number one Roger Federer comfortably overcame Paul-Henri Mathieu in straight sets to advance to the final of the Swiss Indoors in Basel this afternoon.
The home favourite was far from his best, but a relatively error-free performance was enough to see him progress 7-5 6-4 in 86 minutes.
He out-aced the Frenchman 10-4 and did not face a single break point, winning 75% of points behind his serve.
Federer will face Juan Martin del Potro in tomorrow's final, after the second seed beat Richard Gasquet 6-2 6-2.
