Andy Murray to draw on past experience

British number one Andy Murray says that he will draw on past experience in an attempt to overcome Novak Djokovic at the US Open quarter-finals stage.

Andy Murray has said that previous triumphs over Novak Djokovic will help to spur him on against the Serbian when they meet in the US Open quarter-finals.

The British number one defeated Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 7-5 7-5 6-4 yesterday to set up a meeting with Djokovic at Flushing Meadows.

Asked if edging out his opponent in two of their last three Grand Slam meetings will play a part in the latest clash, Murray told Sky Sports News: "They obviously will help. I wouldn't say in terms of getting confidence, it's just having that experience of playing those matches.

"They were both very long, tough matches, as well so I know that I can last those matches against him. But anything can happen in a couple of days. I'll just do everything properly and hope on Wednesday I play a good match."

Djokovic reached the last eight in New York by easing past Philipp Kohlschreiber.
