Marion Bartoli has edged into the third round of the US Open with a narrow three-set victory over Romina Oprandi.
The 11th seed looked to be on course for a comfortable win when she took the opening set 6-3, but world number 58 Oprandi stormed to a 6-1 triumph in the second.
With both players struggling to hold serve in the deciding set, it was Bartoli who came out on top 7-5.
Her reward for beating Oprandi is a third-round clash with fellow Frenchwoman Kristina Mladenovic.
