Australia's Sam Stosur has booked her place in the US Open final with a three sets victory over the unseeded German Angelique Kerber.
Both players were appearing in their first grand slam semi-finals, and it was Stosur who took the first set 6-3.
Kerber countered in the second, making light work of her opponent to win 6-2.
Despite the German ending the previous set in the ascendancy, a woeful display in the third saw her 4-0 down before launching a fightback, but it was too little too late as Stosur won 6-2.
The number nine seed will face either world number one Caroline Wozniacki or Serena Williams in Sunday's final.
