Hello all! Sports Mole's 2014 Wimbledon coverage draws to a close this afternoon as Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer meet in the Men's final. Defending champion Andy Murray and world number one Rafael Nadal both failed to find their best form in London, but Djokovic and Federer have both been impressive.

As mentioned, Djokovic is chasing his second Wimbledon title and his seventh Grand Slam this afternoon. The Serbian also made the final last year, but was beaten by Andy Murray. Should Djokovic beat Federer in this match, the Serbian would also return to world number one ahead of Spaniard and great rival Rafael Nadal.

Federer, however, who claimed his last crown in 2012, is currently tied on seven Wimbledon titles with American Pete Sampras and Briton William Renshaw. Should the Swiss triumph this afternoon, he would be seen as the most successful male tennis player to ever grace Wimbledon. Who would argue against that?

Should Federer overcome Djokovic, he would also become the oldest man to win Wimbledon in the Open era. What's more, the 32-year-old would become only the fifth man to win a second Grand Slam title in his 30s. An 18th Slam would also further extend Federer's lead over Nadal – who has already won 14 Grand Slams.

As mentioned, the two players have met on 34 occasions, with Federer winning 18 times to Djokovic's 14. The last time the pair met was in Monte Carlo earlier this year, when Federer recorded a comfortable 7-5 6-2 win. The last time the two players met on grass, meanwhile, was in the semi-finals of Wimbledon in 2012, when Federer came through in four sets.

Incredibly, that clash at Wimbledon in 2012 is the only time that the two players have ever met on grass. While Djokovic has dominated the Australian Open in recent years – winning the tournament on four occasions since 2008 – the Serbian has picked up the Wimbledon crown just once. That said, he has made at least the semi-final stage of this particular competition every year since 2010.

Federer's overall record at Wimbledon is quite extraordinary. The Swiss has won 73 of his 81 matches - a win percentage of just under 90%. In terms of his route to the final, Federer breezed past Paolo Lorenzi and Gilles Muller in the early rounds to set up a clash with Santiago Giraldo in round three.

Again it was comfortable for Federer, who then moved past Spaniard Tommy Robredo before beating fellow Swiss Stan Wawrinka in the quarter-finals. Milos Raonic waited in the semi-finals, but Federer again advanced in three sets to set up a final with Djokovic. The Swiss has been very impressive.

Djokovic, meanwhile, saw off Andrey Golubev, Radek Stepanek and Gilles Simon before meeting crowd favourite Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in round four. Again it proved to be comfortable for Djokovic, who advanced in three sets before beating Marin Cilic in the quarter-finals.

Murray's conqueror Grigor Dimitrov waited in the semi-finals, but despite a slight wobble, Djokovic came through in four sets to secure yet another Grand Slam final appearance. Djokovic has spent 15 hours on court in this summer's competition, in contrast to Federer, who has been on the court just 10 hours. Wawrinka is also the only player to have taken a set off Federer at this year's Championships, which is an indication of the task facing Djokovic this afternoon.

Here we go then. Both players join us on Centre Court. It is a clash between two supreme athletes. My prediction is Federer in five sets. We could be in for a long one!

Both players are knocking up ahead of the start of this match, which is expected in the next five minutes. The roof is open, but there are a few clouds overhead. Rain, stay away!

Here we go then. The umpire calls time and the 2014 Men's Wimbledon final is ready to start. Let's hope for a cracker...

Good grief what an afternoon of tennis. Djokovic comes through in five sets to win his second Wimbledon title. What an incredible five-set match between these two legends of the game.

Federer sits on his chair, despondent, but he can only be proud of his performance. He was just stunning. His wait for an eighth Wimbledon title must wait until at least 2015, but he has shown that he is still at the top level. The trophy presentation and speeches will soon take place. Stay with us...

Federer lifts the trophy above his head and the crowd go wild here. He is a serious hero in these parts. Djokovic follows and gains an equally warm reception. He is glowing and that is no surprise.

"It was a great final. I cannot believe I made it to five. I hoped it would be enough. Playing Novak is always tough, I can only say congratulations to him and he deserves it. I enjoyed myself a lot, thanks very much and see you next year," said Federer, who has just addressed the crowd on Centre Court.

"First of all, I want to congratulate Roger, it was a great match. He is a great champion and a role model for many kids. Thank you for letting me win today," Novak jokes when speaking about Federer.

"After dropping the fourth set, it was not easy to regroup and find the necessary energy to win the fifth, but somehow I managed to do it. This is the tournament I always dreamed of winning and the most valuable... to be able to compete at this level is a dream. I would like to dedicate it to my future wife and our future baby. I am going to become a father soon so I am still preparing for that. I would like to dedicate it to all my family and team, who have sacrificed a lot for me. I would also like to dedicate it to my first coach, who passed away last year, this is for her," said an emotional Djokovic.

The wait for Federer goes on, but this is all about Novak, who is parading his trophy around Centre Court. It was a truly stunning afternoon of tennis between two great champions. Wimbledon might be over for another year, but this great rivalry is far from over.

It isn't all bad news for Federer - he has picked up close to £900k. Meanwhile, Djokovic has pocketed a cool £1.7m.
