Andy Murray to begin Wimbledon defence against David Goffin

Britain's Andy Murray will begin the defence of his Wimbledon title against Belgian David Goffin.

Andy Murray will begin his Wimbledon defence with a first-round match against Belgian David Goffin.

The 27-year-old, who lost for the first time on grass since the 2012 SW19 final at Queen's Club last week, will open play on Centre Court at 1pm on Monday.

It will be the first professional meeting between Murray and Goffin, who is ranked 104 in the world.

Murray has been drawn in the same half as Novak Djokovic, meaning that world number one and top seed Rafael Nadal could only be an opponent for him should he reach the final.

Djokovic will play Kazakhstan's Andrey Golubev and Nadal Slovenia's Martin Klizan at the opening stage, while Roger Federer will begin his quest for an eighth Wimbledon title against Italy's Paolo Lorenzi.

Britain's other entrants in the gentleman's singles, James Ward, Dan Evans and Kyle Edmunds, will face 17th seed Mikhail Youzhny, his Russian compatriot Andrey Kuznetsov and Andreas Haider-Maurer respectively.
