Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger praises his players for their performance against Olympiacos even though they lost their Champions League clash 2-1 in Athens.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes that his side's performance against Olympiacos in the Champions League on Tuesday was "positive" despite their defeat.

The Gunners conceded a one-goal lead to lose 2-1 to the Greek outfit in Athens and finished second in Group B behind German club Schalke.

"I believe it was a positive game tonight," said the Frenchman. "We left eight or nine players at home and we had a positive game here.

"It's a good opportunity for us to keep focused, to show strength and unity and that's what you want to do in the next game. I know that the next game's always important but it's like that in football.

"We had a good first half. We dropped physically in the second half because many players lack competition at that level and therefore we couldn't take the chances for the second goal."

Arsenal will find out who they will face in the last 16 when the draw is made on December 20.
