Andy Gray: 'Questions will be asked of Paul Lambert'

Former Aston Villa striker Andy Gray says that manager Paul Lambert must improve the club's fortunes, otherwise his future at the club could be in doubt.

Former Aston Villa striker Andy Gray has warned manager Paul Lambert that he must improve the club's form quickly, otherwise his future could be questioned.

Villa fell to their sixth consecutive Premier League defeat on Sunday, as Tottenham Hotspur beat them 2-1 at Villa Park.

Gray believes that Lambert's days with the Midlands outfit could be numbered.

"Paul has had getting on for three years now to wheel and deal and he has brought in a few, and he bought a few this summer," he told talkSPORT.

"Should this Villa side be losing six games in a row in this league? My answer would be no. Should they be a team that's scored only five goals? No.

"I think they're better than that and if it doesn't work for Paul in the next few games then somebody is going to start asking questions about the manager. I hope they get it right."

Villa are currently 15th in the league table, two points clear of the drop zone.
