Atletico Madrid head coach Diego Simeone has said that he will "give everything" to the Spanish outfit until he departs.

The 52-year-old has been in charge of the capital giants since 2011, winning two La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, one Spanish Super Cup, two Europa League trophies and two UEFA Super Cups.

The Red and Whites have also reached two Champions League finals under the Argentine's leadership, losing to rivals Real Madrid in 2014 and 2016.

There is currently widespread speculation surrounding Simeone's future, though, with a recent report claiming that the experienced manager has already told Atletico that he will be standing down from his role at the end of the season, despite having a contract until June 2024.

According to journalist Paco Garcia, Simeone has already informed the club's CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin that he will be departing this summer.

"Simeone will not continue at Atleti in the coming season. He has told Gil Marin that he will leave," Garcia told El Chiringuito.

Atletico's struggles this season are said to have contributed to his decision, with the club failing to qualify for the knockout round of the Champions League or Europa League.

The Copa del Rey had emerged as the team's best chance of securing silverware this season, but they suffered a 3-1 loss to Real Madrid in the quarter-finals of the competition.

Atletico were held to a 1-1 draw by Getafe in La Liga on Saturday, meanwhile, with the result leaving them down in fourth spot in the table, 18 points behind the leaders Barcelona and four ahead of fifth-placed Villarreal.

Simeone has refused to confirm that he will be remaining at the club this summer but has insisted that he "will always give everything" while he is at the helm.

"We're sad not to still be in the Copa and Champions League, but I'm at peace, and that's the best a person can ask for," Marca quotes Simeone as saying.

"Since arriving at the club, I have given everything. I will always give everything, until the last day I am here.

"I have one and a half years left on my contract, and I will give everything until the last day, and I am very excited for that."

Atletico only have three more matches this month, all of which are in La Liga, starting with next weekend's trip to Celta Vigo and ending with an away game against Real Madrid.
