How Bayern Munich could line up against Lyon

Sports Mole looks at how Bayern Munich could line up against Lyon in Wednesday's Champions League semi-final tie.

Bayern Munich will be looking to reach the Champions League final for the first time since 2013 when they take on Lyon in Lisbon on Wednesday evening.

The Bavarian giants put eight goals past Barcelona in the last round and have now won 24 of their last 25 matches in all competitions.

However, Bayern have failed to progress from each of their last four semi-finals, losing to Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Real Madrid (twice) during that run.

Ahead of their huge midweek showdown with Lyon, who have already knocked out Juventus and Manchester City, Sports Mole looks at how Bayern could line up.

Possible BAY XI vs. LYO

Doubtful: Benjamin Pavard (ankle)

Flick decided to stick with Ivan Perisic over a fit-again Kingsley Coman on the left-hand side of attack for the 8-2 win over Barcelona.

That proved to be an inspired choice, with the Croatia international getting on the scoresheet, but Coman will be raring to go on if called upon here.

However, changes are unlikely to be made anywhere else in the side, even though Benjamin Pavard is back in light training following an ankle injury layoff.

Pavard is one of the best defenders in the world, but it is tough to see him dislodging any member of the back four on current form.

Robert Lewandowski has been arguably the star of Bayern's possible treble-winning campaign and has scored in eight consecutive Champions League appearances.

Only Ruud Van Nistelrooy in 2003 (9) and Cristiano Ronaldo in 2018 (11) have scored in more successive matches in the competition's history.
