The first chance of the game fell to the Viola in the sixth minute when Juan Guillermo Cuadrado shot high from outside the area.

Moments later Luciano tried his luck for Chievo from close range, and then Manuel Pasqual forced Stefano Sorrentino into a save.

Chievo took the lead in the 17th minute when Cyril Thereau latched on to Luciano's through ball and shot home from from close range.

However, the Flying Donkeys' lead lasted for just a minute as Gonzalo Rodriguez turned in Luca Toni's headed pass from just yards out.
