Former Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp has questioned the credentials of England managerial candidate Gareth Southgate.
Under-21s manager Southgate has been installed as the early favourite to replace Roy Hodgson, who resigned last night following England's ignominious exit from Euro 2016 at the hands of Iceland.
However, Redknapp believes that the likes of Steve Bruce and Sam Allardyce should be ahead of Southgate in the pecking order.
"Why should he get it in front of Steve Bruce and Sam Allardyce, who are proven managers?" Redknapp told BBC Radio 5 live.
When it was suggested that Southgate knew the way the FA worked as well as the English "system", Redknapp responded: "Knows what system? The losing system? He knows the losing formula?
"I like Gareth Southgate, he's a great lad, but what's he done?"
Redknapp has also described Glenn Hoddle as the "perfect" man to take over.
