Alberto Gilardino gave the visitors the lead from the penalty spot, before Alberto Aquilani levelled the scores.

Genoa scored their second of the game through Luca Antonini, but again Fiorentina responded quickly, as Aquilani fired home.

After the break, Aquilani gave the hosts the lead for the first time with his third goal of the evening.

With 13 minutes of the game left to play, Sebastian De Maio slotted in from a corner, to level the scores and earn his side a share of the spoils.

Good evening and thank you for joining Sports Mole for live text commentary of the Serie A match between Fiorentina and Genoa at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

The two teams have just been announced, so i can bring them to you now, starting with the hosts.

FIORENTINA XI: Neto, Roncaglia, Compper, Savic, Pasqual, Pizarro, Aquilani, Ambrosini, Cuadrado, Joaquin, Matri

GENOA XI: Perin, Antonini, De Maio, Burdisso, Antonelli, Marchese, Matuzalem, De Ceglie, Konate, Bertolacci, Gilardino

FIORENTINA SUBS: Lupatelli, Rosati, Bakic, Rebic, Mati Fernandez, Woslki, Matos, Venuti, Vargas, Ilicic, Iakovenko, Olivera

GENOA SUBS: Donnarumma, Bizzarri, Stoian, Cofie, Calaio', Fetfatzidis, Vrsaljko, Motta, Centurion, Sturaro, Tavares, Portanova

TEAM NEWS: Alessandro Matri is fit to start for Fiorentina, after picking a calf problem during his debut. He is joined in the attack by Juan Guillermo Cuadrado and Joaquin. The visitors hand new singings Nicolas Burdisso and Paolo De Ceglie their first starts for the club, while former Viola striker Alberto Gilardino leads the line.

Vincenzo Montella's side have been in a rich vein of form and have won five of their past six games in all competitions. They are also through to the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia and have the Europa League to look forward to when it resumes next month. They are currently fourth in the Serie A table, and can move to within one point of third-placed Napoli with a win this evening.

Genoa are 11th in the league and have won just two of their past eight matches. Two of those wins have come in their past three outings, including a 1-0 victory last Sunday against Inter Milan. If they claim three points tonight, then they will move up to ninth, above AC Milan and Lazio.

The first time these two teams met this season, Fiorentina claimed a 5-2 win. Alberto Aquilani scored the first of the match, while Giuseppe Rossi and Mario Gomez both bagged a double. Those two strikers have suffered from injury problems this season, meaning the home side will be looking for Milan loan signing Matri to keep finding the net.

PREDICTION: Genoa's fine win over Inter will undoubtedly boost their confidence coming into tonight's match, but it is hard to look beyond a win for Fiorentina, due to their brilliant form. They will have their sights set on breaking into the top three and will not want to lose out on three points this evening. I think the hosts will win this game 2-0.

Fiorentina have lost just one home game in the league this season. On that occassion they fell to a 2-1 defeat against Napoli. They are however, the only team to have beaten Juventus in Serie A this season, hitting four goals past the current champions in a 4-2 victory.

The players are making their way out onto the pitch and kick off is just moments away.

KICKOFF! We are underway at the Stadio Artemio Franchi!

CHANCE! After a quiet opening four minutes, the home side spring into life and almost take the lead. Matri is slipped through and takes the ball past the keeper, but his shot from a tight angle is blocked by Perin.

Matri is looking a real threat for the hosts, and has won his side a dangerous free kick around 25 yards out from goal.

Cuadrado steps up to take it, but hammers a strike well over the bar. It was a poor effort, and he had plenty of players forward to aim for.

It has been a scrappy start, with both teams losing possession in the centre of midfield. The home team have not been able to play their usual passing football as yet, and are being closed down well by their opponents.

Cuadrado shows good skill to get into the box for the hosts, but as he looks to pick out anyone in the middle, he looses his footing at the vital moment.

Gilardino comes close to scoring against his former club, as he is slipped into the box, before seeing his strike blocked behind for a corner.

Down the other the home side see a strike of their own blocked, when Pasqual is picked out in space at the back post, and fires an effort on goal, but Antonini closes down the attempt.

Genoa win a free kick in a decent position deep inside the Fiorentina half, but Bertolacci's cross takes a deflection, before being gathered up by the keeper.

The visitors are looking a bit shaky at the back and have hit a couple of passes short in defence. You don't want to be messing around when players like Matri are closing you down.

Matri continues to look like Fiorentina's best player, and he is slipped through again, but from a wide angle, he places an effort past the post.

PENALTY TO GENOA! The visitors have the chance to take the lead from the spot, as Antonelli goes down under the keeper's challenge. It seemed as if there was no contact from Neto, but the referee has given it, much to the home team's disdain.

GOAL! Fiorentina 0-1 Genoa (Gilardino)

The former Fiorentina man takes the penalty, and slots it brilliantly into the top right hand corner, leaving the keeper with no chance.

From the replays, it definitely looks like a controversial decision to award the penalty, and if there was any contact it was certainly minimal at best.

PENALTY TO FIORENTINA! Just minutes after falling behind to a spot kick, the home side have one of their own! There was a collision between De Maio and Matri in the box, and the defender was adjudged to have been the one committing the foul.

GOAL! Fiorentina 1-1 Genoa (Aquilani)

Aquilani is the man to take the penalty, and fires it into the bottom left hand corner, with the keeper diving the wrong way.

GOAL! Fiorentina 1-2 Genoa (Antonini)

Within a minute, the visitors have retaken the lead. The ball breaks through to Antonini inside the box, and he slides a confident finish past Neto and into the corner. What a stunning few minutes we have had here!

It is easy to forget that Antonini is a defender, after a finish reminiscent of a top striker.

Fiorentina are camped on the edge of the Genoa area, but their play is slightly too intricate as they look to feed Matri through.

YELLOW CARD! Bertolacci is booked for the visitors, for taking Ambrosini down from behind. He is the third player to pick up a card, following bookings for Cuadrado and De Maio in the aftermath of the two penalties.

GOAL! Fiorentina 2-2 Genoa (Aquilani)

Fiorentina have levelled the match for the second time, and it's a double for Aquilani! There was an almighty scramble in the box following Joaquin's cross, and it eventually broke to the midfielder to fire into the bottom corner.

We are going to have one minute of added time.

HALF TIME: Fiorentina 2-2 Genoa

The first half comes to an end, with Fiorentina and Genoa sharing four goals in Florence. Two penalties started the goal feast, with all the strikes coming into a fifteen minute spell.

The home side will have felt hard done by to concede that first goal, as there appeared to be minimal contact from Neto. The scoreline reflects an even first half, with neither team taking control of the proceedings so far.

It has to be said that the defending has been poor, but hopefully we will continue to see goals and attacking football in the second half.

The two teams are making their way back out onto the pitch, and the second 45 minutes will be starting soon.

The hosts kick off and get the second half started.

CHANCE! Cuadrado comes within inches of finding the back of the net, as he shifts the ball onto his right foot, and fires in a strike, that takes a slight deflection, and dips just over the bar.

DISALLOWED GOAL! Aquilani is denied his hat-trick for Fiorentina, after nodding in at the back post from a corner. The flag was up, but the replays show that it was a harsh decision on the midfielder.

The home team have really started to crank up the pressure in the first few minutes of this half, as Cuadrado sees his close range effort blocked by a last-ditch challenge.

Aquilani has been involved in most of the action this evening, and picks up the ball in space outside the box following a corner, but scuffs his effort wide of the post.

OFF THE POST! Genoa are so close to retaking the lead! The ball is whipped in from the right, and Konate meets it in the air, but sees his header come back off the post.

SUBSTITUTION: The home side have made a change, with Fernandez replacing Ambrosini.

GOAL! Fiorentina 3-2 Genoa (Aquilani)

He had a goal disallowed just minutes ago, but has Aquilani has scored his hat-trick! The midfielder was found in space by Joaquin, before lashing in a strike past the keeper, taking a slight deflection on it's way into the net.

Genoa make their first change of the evening, with Fetfatzidis coming on for Marchese.

Fetfatzidis tries to make an immediate impact for the visitors after doing well to get to the touchline, but as he looks to burst into the box, he overruns the ball, and it goes out for a goal kick.

Genoa are starting to come forward more, and Antonini is slipped in down the right hand side. He whips a ball into the middle, but Neto comes flying off his line to punch it away from danger.

Substitute Fetfatzidis has looked lively since coming on, and works himself some space to shoot just outside the box, but hammers his attempt over the bar.

The game seems to have settled down for the time being, with the home side looking to keep control of the ball, but I wouldn't bet against another goal in the closing stages.

SUBSTITUTION: The visitors make their second change, as Stoian comes on for De Ceglie.

SUBSTITUTION: Fiorentina are next to make a change, as the hat-trick hero Aquilani makes way, for Anderson to come on for his debut.

CHANCE! Stoian is inches away from find the back of the net. He receives the ball in space 30 yards out from goal, and lets loose with a ferocious strike that dips just over the bar.

Genoa have a good chance to get players into the box, as they win a rare corner.

GOAL! Fiorentina 3-3 Genoa (De Maio)

Genoa make their set piece count, and have got right back into this game. The corner is whipped into the middle, and De Maio is on hand to slot the ball home from inside the six-yard box.

CHANCE! The home team go straight down the other end, and Fernandez almost restores their lead. Anderson lays the ball off for him on the edge of the box, and he flashes a half-volley just wide of the goal.

SUBSTITUTION: The hosts make their final change of the match, as Matos comes on for Cuadrado.

SUBSTITUTION: Genoa also make a change, with Konate being replaced by Cofie.

Fiorentina are completely dominating the possession as they look for a fourth goal, and have won a free kick down by the left hand touchline, that Matos will take.

Matos takes the set piece and plays it into the near post, but it is headed behind for a corner.

From the resulting corner, the ball is whipped into the middle, but Perin does well to come out and claim.

The visitors could still sntach the three points here, as they break quickly on the counter-attack, but the final pass breaks down and the home team can attack.

Fiorentina win a corner, and it comes out to Pasqual just outside the box, but his effort is poor, and he slices his strike well wide of the goal.

We are going to have three minutes of stoppage time. Can somebody find a winner?

CHANCE! What a strike from Roncaglia! He picks up the ball 25 yards out from goal, and it beats the keeper, but swerves just past the post.

FULL TIME: Fiorentina 3-3 Genoa

The referee brings the game to an end, and it finishes 3-3, with both teams having to settle for a point.

Fiorentina will be disappointed not to have held on after coming from 3-2 down, but it was a well-earned point for Genoa. The result leaves the home side fourth in the table, and still three points behind Napoli. Genoa stay in 11th, but are now one point away from AC Milan and Lazio.

Thank you for joining me this evening, for what has been a thrilling encounter. Stay with us for all of the latest news and results, but from me, it's goodbye.
