Lukas Podolski admits that he would play left-back for Germany if he were asked to by Joachim Low.

Lukas Podolski has claimed that he would play anywhere if it meant he were given a place in the Germany team.

The Arsenal forward has fallen out of favour for the national side recently but believes that the success of Joachim Low's group is the most important outcome.

Podolski told Kicker: "Everyone wants to play, but it is important that we reach a common goal.

"It doesn't matter which position I play. I would play at left-back!"

The Republic of Ireland host Low's side in Dublin on Friday night.
