Johann Berg Gudmundsson's free kick has given Charlton Athletic a half-time lead over Huddersfield Town.
After a quiet 20 minutes, the home side almost took the lead as Tony Watt cut inside his marker and set up Igor Vetokele, but his shot was saved by Alex Smithies.
Huddersfield then thought that they had scored as Ishmael Miller converted a flick from Murray Wallace, but it was ruled out for a foul on the goalkeeper.
Their misery was compounded only minutes later, as Gudmundsson curled a fine free kick into the top corner from 25 yards.
Miller went close to equalising for the visitors shortly after as Jack Robinson found Miller in the box, but he put his effort wide.
Vetokele then had his second big chance of the match, but his poor connection on Morgan Fox's cross cost his side a two-goal lead.
