Hull City formally request name change

Hull City send a letter to the FA formally requesting that their name be changed to Hull Tigers from next season.

Hull City have sent a letter to the Football Association formally requesting that their name be changed to Hull Tigers from next season.

Owner Assem Allam revealed in August that he was eager to rename the team in a bid to make it more appealing to an international audience.

However, his announcement was met with intense and continued criticism from fans of the Premier League club.

Despite multiple protests against the proposal, Allam's plans now appear to be going ahead.

Manager Steve Bruce has repeatedly urged supporters respect Allam's wishes after the Egyptian-born businessman took over the club and gave it a much-needed cash injection back in December 2010.
