Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has targeted reaching another European final with the Reds before he retires.

The 34-year-old has played in three continental finals so far during 16 years as a player at Anfield.

His first was the thrilling 5-4 golden goal-decided UEFA Cup final win over Alaves in 2001.

As well as featuring in the legendary 2007 Champions League Final comeback against AC Milan in Istanbul, Carragher was a runner-up in the European club showpiece in Athens two years later.

The Reds' Carling Cup penalty shootout win over Cardiff City last month guaranteed, at least Europa League football at Anfield next season and vice-captain Carragher has admitted that going all the way in the tournament would be a fairytale ending to his career.

He told The Sun: "I want to win more before the end of my career. That's why I'm desperate for the FA Cup and to play in Europe again.

"At the moment we're definitely in the Europa League and I know people knock it but I'd love to reach the final of that competition.

"I've been to three in Europe so far. To have four in your career would be a fantastic achievement."

Carragher, whose contract is due to expire in the summer of 2013, made just his second start this year in Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Arsenal.
