Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson is reportedly leaning towards accepting a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabian club Al Ettifaq.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has reportedly edged closer to accepting a lucrative proposal from Saudi Arabian club Al Ettifaq.

The Saudi Pro League side appointed Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard as their new manager last week, and he swiftly identified his former Reds teammate as a potential target.

Initially, the England international looked set to turn down the chance to reunite with Gerrard due to a desire to play at the highest level ahead of Euro 2024.

However, a recent report indicated that Henderson has had a rethink and is expected to make a final decision on his future in the next 48 hours.

According to The Athletic, Henderson is leaning towards accepting a significant contract offer from the Saudi Arabian club.

The report claims that Henderson has been presented with a "life-changing" offer that would quadruple his Liverpool salary.

The experienced midfielder would take home more than £700,000 a week if he decided to accept Al Ettifaq's proposal.

With Henderson under contract with the Merseyside club until June 2025, a fee would still have to be agreed between the two clubs.

As it stands, Liverpool have not received an offer from Al Ettifaq, but they will enter discussions over a deal if Henderson gives the green light.

Since joining the Reds from Sunderland in 2011, Henderson has made 492 appearances for the club, contributing 33 goals and 61 assists.

The 33-year-old has won a total of eight trophies as a Liverpool player, including the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, EFL Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.

Henderson could become the latest midfielder to leave Anfield this summer following the departures of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner and Naby Keita.

Jurgen Klopp's side have already moved to bolster their options in the middle of the park with the additions of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai from Brighton & Hove Albion and RB Leipzig respectively.
