Despite the away side threatening early on, it was Lorient who grabbed the lead after 20 minutes when Jeremie Aliadiere set up Kevin Monnet-Paquet, who made it 1-0.
Enzo Reale then doubled the home side's lead on 27 minutes after being set up well by Maxime Barthelme.
Troyes's hopes of a comeback were given a boost on 66 minutes when Jeremie Brechet headed home a Darbion cross to make it 2-1.
Mounir Obbadi had a huge chance to equalise for Troyes, but his effort was put wide of the post.
Gregory Bourillon then confirmed the win for Lorient on 83 minutes, heading home a cross from Reale.
Fabien Camus scored a late goal for Troyes on 88 minutes, though it wasn't enough to trouble the home side, who took all three points.
