Juan Mata has spoken of his pride after Manchester United offered the "perfect reaction" to their first loss under Ole Gunner Solskjaer by beating Chelsea for a place in the FA Cup quarter-finals.
Six days on from losing 2-0 to PSG in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie at Old Trafford, United produced arguably their best all-round display yet under Solskjaer to overcome Chelsea by the same scoreline.
First-half headers from Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba secured an 11th win in 13 matches since Jose Mourinho departed the club two months ago, and Mata was pleased with the manner of his side's victory in West London.
"It was the perfect reaction to our defeat against Paris Saint-Germain," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News. "It is not easy to come to Stamford Bridge and win against Chelsea, to not concede any goals and to play good football.
"I think it was a very good evening for us and it will give us a lot of confidence for the next games.
"We had a difficult result against Paris Saint-Germain but we still believe that we can come back. In the Premier League our main target is to get top four after a very good run of results.
"One or two months ago it seemed pretty impossible to get where we are now. In the FA Cup we are close to Wembley so hopefully we can go to Wembley again with all our fans because it is a very nice feeling."
Twelve-time winners United will face Wolverhampton Wanderers in the last eight of the competition.
