Birmingham City manager Lee Clark believes that it would be beneficial for Jesse Lingard's career if he extended his loan spell at the club.
Lingard is scheduled to return to Manchester United on New Year's Day, but Clark has revealed that he intends to speak with Red Devils boss David Moyes about keeping the 21-year-old.
The 41-year-old told reporters: "We'll have to talk to Manchester United now because the loan officially runs out after the Barnsley game on New Year's Day.
"I need to try to convince David Moyes that to help his development and to help Manchester United, it would be better for Jesse to stay here.
"Jesse has been playing in a tough league in the Championship, he's playing every week, he's doing terrifically well and he's learning all parts of the game."
Lingard will miss Birmingham's game against Barnsley through suspension.
