West Ham United boss Graham Potter says that the Hammers are in the market for a new forward amid suggestions that Manchester United's Marcus Rashford is a target.

West Ham United head coach Graham Potter has said that the Hammers are in the market for a new forward amid suggestions that Manchester United's Marcus Rashford could make the move to the London Stadium.

Rashford is available for Man United's FA Cup third-round contest with Arsenal on Sunday afternoon, but he is again expected to be left out of the squad amid the speculation surrounding his future.

AC Milan and Juventus are thought to lead the race to sign the forward on loan, but there have also been suggestions that West Ham are in the running, with the Hammers considering what would be a shock move.

West Ham currently have severe issues in the final third, as Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen are both injured, while Niclas Fullkrug picked up a hamstring injury during Friday's FA Cup clash with Aston Villa.

Potter has revealed that the London club are monitoring forward options, and a loan move for Rashford looks to be a possibility despite Man United's apparent desire to move him abroad.

"I need to assess the injuries and assess where we are at, have a think in terms of everybody connected," Potter told reporters.

"We'll have a think, if we can find anybody that can help us. If those [players] are out, it's something we'll have to look at, of course.

"I only comment on players that are West Ham players. All the speculation aren't always exactly true and you can get yourself in all sorts of knots confirming or denying everything. It's best to just speak about players that are West Ham players.

"Losing Niclas [to injury] was a blow for us. I would imagine quite a severe hamstring [injury], when you pull up like that. That's a concern for us. We need to assess it. Then Cry [Crysencio Summerville] pulled up, [albeit] nowhere near as bad."

Which other clubs are battling for Rashford?

Rashford is believed to have rejected lucrative moves to Saudi Arabia and Turkey, as he is determined to stay in a major European league, with the strongest interest at this moment in time coming from Juventus and AC Milan.

The forward's agent and brother is said to have met with officials from both Juve and AC Milan last week to discuss a possible switch to Italy, which would most likely be a loan deal for the second half of the campaign.

Borussia Dortmund are also in the running, but suggestions of interest from Arsenal are thought to be wide of the mark.

Rashford has scored seven times for Man United this season, making him the team's joint-second leading goalscorer in 2024-25, but he has not featured since December 12, with head coach Ruben Amorim overlooking him in recent weeks due to underwhelming training-ground performances and his general demeanour around Carrington.
