Harry Redknapp confirms Rio Ferdinand has agreed to join Queen Park Rangers

Harry Redknapp confirms that Rio Ferdinand has agreed to join Queens Park Rangers on a free this summer.

Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp expects the deal to sign free agent Rio Ferdinand to go through after the defender agreed to move to Loftus Road.

The 35-year-old will remain in the Premier League next season after leaving Manchester United at the end of the 2013-14 campaign when his contract expired.

While some reports have claimed that members of the QPR board have concerns over Ferdinand's proposed wages, Redknapp expects the deal to be completed when the defender returns from his World Cup punditry duties in Brazil.

"Rio has agreed to join us and we're hopeful of getting that one over the line when he gets back from the World Cup," Redknapp told The Telegraph.

"I can't foresee any problems with it and we'd be delighted if we can get it done soon. He's been a player at the top of the list since he left Manchester United and he would give the whole place a lift with his quality and experience."

Ferdinand spent 12 years playing for the Red Devils.
