Rangers set up semi-final against Alloa Athletic

Goals from Jon Daly and Ian Black fire Rangers into the Petrofac Training Cup semi-finals.

Rangers have reached the semi-finals of the Petrofac Training Cup with a comfortable 2-0 win away to East Fife in the last eight.

The Gers came close to an opener in the 12th minute when Jon Daly nodded Fraser Aird's cross on to David Templeton, and the winger forced an impressive save out of Allan Fleming in the Fifers goal.

Ally McCoist's side edged their noses in front in the 29th minute through Daly, who was on hand to bundle the ball over the line after Nicky Clark picked him out with a deft cross.

Rangers doubled their advantage early in the second period as midfielder Ian Black thumped home a free kick to put the visitors more in control.

The Light Blues, who will travel to Alloa Athletic in the last four, continued to control the action but were unable to add to their two-goal tally before the full-time whistle.
