Real Madrid injury, suspension news vs. Las Palmas: Key duo out for Los Blancos through suspension, but David Alaba could return

Sports Mole looks at Real Madrid's injury and suspension news ahead of the final of their La Liga clash with Las Palmas.

Real Madrid will be bidding to make it three wins in a row in Spain's top flight when they continue their 2024-25 campaign with a home fixture against Las Palmas on Sunday afternoon.

Carlo Ancelotti's side are currently second in the La Liga table, one point behind the leaders Atletico Madrid, boasting a record of 13 wins, four draws and two defeats from 19 league games this term.

Los Blancos will enter this match off the back of a 5-2 victory over Celta Vigo in the Copa del Rey, which secured their spot in the quarter-finals of the competition.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Real Madrid's injury and suspension news ahead of the clash with Las Palmas, who suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Getafe last time out.

Fran Garcia

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Unspecified
Possible return date: January 19 (vs. Las Palmas)

Garcia was substituted in the latter stages of normal time against Celta on Thursday night due to an injury problem, and the left-back will now need to be assessed before a decision is made on his involvement in this contest.

Dani Carvajal

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Real Madrid will be without the services of Carvajal for the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign due to the severe knee injury that the right-back suffered in the clash with Villarreal on October 5.

David Alaba

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: January 19 (vs. Las Palmas)

Alaba suffered an ACL injury in December 2023, which required two operations to fix; the defender is now on the verge of a first-team return, though, and he could be in the squad against Las Palmas.

Eder Militao

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Real Madrid will be without the services of Militao for the remainder of the campaign, as the Brazilian centre-back damaged his ACL during the clash with Osasuna.

Vinicius Junior

Vinicius is suspended for this weekend's contest due to the red card that he was handed against Valencia earlier this month, and he will also be banned against Real Valladolid on January 25, but the Brazilian can feature in the Champions League next week.

Luka Modric

Status: Out
Possible return date: January 22 (vs. Red Bull Salzburg)

Modric is also banned for Real Madrid on Sunday due to an accumulation of yellow cards, but the Croatian will be available for selection against Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League next week.
