Real Madrid win the 2023-24 La Liga title with four games to spare, securing the famous trophy for the 36th time in their history.

Real Madrid have won the 2023-24 La Liga title with four games to spare, securing the famous trophy for the 36th time in their history.

Los Blancos recorded a 3-0 victory over Cadiz at Bernabeu on Saturday afternoon, with Brahim Diaz, Jude Bellingham and Joselu on the scoresheet for Carlo Ancelotti's side.

In order for the title to be secured with four matches left, Real Madrid then needed second-placed Barcelona to drop points in the Catalan derby against third-placed Girona.

Barcelona led twice against Michel's side, including 2-1 at the break, but Girona went on to score three times without reply in the second period to record a 4-2 victory and move above the 2022-23 champions in the table.

The result confirmed Real Madrid's position as La Liga champions, with an outstanding campaign seeing Ancelotti's team pick up 87 points from 34 matches courtesy of a record of 27 wins, six draws and one loss.

Real Madrid have been comfortably La Liga's best side this season

Real Madrid are the leading goalscorers in Spain's top flight this season with 74 and also boast the best defensive record, having only conceded 22 times.

Bellingham has scored 17 league goals during an excellent first campaign at Bernabeu, and the England international came off the bench to register against Cadiz on Saturday.

Los Blancos are now preparing for Wednesday's Champions League semi-final second leg against Bayern Munich, with the tie level at 2-2 following the first leg in Germany.

Real Madrid's final four league games are against Granada, Alaves, Villarreal and Real Betis, and they will then hope to be present in the Champions League final against either Paris Saint-Germain or Borussia Dortmund at Wembley Stadium on June 1.

Ancelotti's side have won their last seven league fixtures, while their only loss of the 2023-24 campaign has been a 3-1 reverse at Atletico Madrid on September 24.

Los Blancos are crowned La Liga champions for 36th time

Real Madrid have won the title for the 36th time, reclaiming the trophy from Barcelona, who were 10 points clear of their rivals at the summit last season.

There were question marks raised when Karim Benzema left Real Madrid last summer, but Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo have thrived as a front two, with Bellingham operating in the number 10 position.

The capital giants are expected to add Kylian Mbappe to their squad this summer, with the France international set to arrive on a free transfer from PSG.

It was always going to be a case of 'when' and not 'if' Real Madrid would win the title in recent months, as Ancelotti's side have been comfortable at the summit for some time.

Saturday's game against Cadiz also marked the return of number one goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, with the Belgian making his first appearance of the campaign after recovering from two separate knee injuries, which both required operations.
